Freedom of Rebirth
No longer can I ignore the history of you
you made me learn to hate, to spite my face, but never to love.
You taught hypocrisy, begrudging empty honesty
like a thousand hurdles I jumped to finally erase all black memories.
So many years have passed between you and now
so long I longed for you to say those words
they never came. Instead I lived a drought waterless and barren.
With age came erasing which helped to catch a breath of clarity
to suddenly breathe a fresh air of conscience is redeeming
ah yes the final resuscitation has begun and I the better man
shirtless and born again into the comfort I once knew as me.
